Stayed four nights last week on an award. Great location, and overall decent, but a tired property. No upgrade possible and no ability to use SNAs here, but we were able to switch to a double queen vs a single king as we both snore extravagantly and beat each other up in our sleep so that was a relief. Unable to confirm this at booking where the only option on an award is a basic king. We did NOT want to drive into town from the resort properties out in Indian Wells etc. every day. Were given plastic glasses of sparking wine at checkin and there was a bottle on ice with glass flutes in our room waiting for us. Nice!
Property has three pools, two are adult-only, but we didn't use them. Lounging around when it's 100F/38C is not my idea of a good time but hey it's a dry heat. Street parking is free and available so don't bother with the valet unless you're a princess or have limited mobility. Ate a last-day lunch at Chi-Chi's restaurant and it was really good though pricey. Surprise $50/day resort fee was refunded when I complained. There's a BevMo across the street for your liquid needs and a grocery store across Palm Canyon for snax and sundries.
Disliked the position of the AC as it blew freezing air across the beds. Turning it up to about 72F/22C seemed to ameliorate this problem, but once the sun's up you need to turn it way down.
You're basically paying for the location, as you can walk pretty much anywhere downtown.
