It's still closed, and the weather is awful anyway.
As an Exploder I was upgraded to a bigger room on the top floor which is fine. No suite, but I'm here for two weeks and was told to check back Friday about one for the next week.
The renderings are pretty accurate. I can totally understand the confusion about where the entrance is (go up the hill to the bridge and turn left) and parking (do NOT go up the bridge; turn left into what looks like an alley and pull up to the smaller of two black roll-up doors and it'll open). Pull a ticket and have it validated at the front desk, then you can use it for entry and exit for the duration of your stay.
I ate the restaurant the first night as I was exhausted after a brutal trip here that had me attempting sleep overnight in the LGA B terminal (do NOT recommend) and had the most expensive cheeseburger I've ever had, but it was really good. The coffee was free yesterday morning, but not today. Grrr. I don't eat breakfast but I do need my coffee.
There's a number of cute restaurants within a short walk but a lot of them are closed on Mon/Tues. It's a work trip so I haven't had a change to explore much, but it seems like a really cool old neighborhood. I'll get out this weekend weather permitting.
I ws thinking to stay here the entire five weeks but after two days of terrible traffic to/from my client in Lachine (close to YUL), probably not. I've never been to Montreal when traffic was NOT terrible, and the broken buckled roads are like trying to drive on the surface of Mars. I'd like to regain my Glob status but not if it means sitting in creeping traffic for an hour each way which is only about 20km.
