I've been a Spire/Diamond (top tier) IHG member for years until 2021 when a job change forced a preferred hotel change. I was about to drop from Spire Elite to zero stays/no status and booked a point-burning vacation starting on 12/30/2022 so that I could reap the rewards of status at the resort.
Fast forward to 2023 and I got the notice on my account that they were doing the reviews and would update in March. March came and went, and I was still showing Diamond Elite through 12/31/2023

I went ahead and bought points and booked the same wonderful EOY vacation and crossed my fingers that the status would remain until then.

After reading through this thread, I checked and now it says Diamond Elite through 12/31/2024!!

I did purchase Ambassador a while back in anticipation of an upcoming trip and renewed this year with some strange idea that that was what was keeping my status going.

Is that what's going on here? I honestly don't recall getting ambassador the first time specifically to hold status, but perhaps I didn't even notice. Is the general consensus here that renewing Ambassador is keeping Diamond Elite alive? Or is the program just experiencing a 6 month glitch and I'll be paying for breakfast in my un-upgraded room on New Year's Day...
