Here are my thoughts.

REFER the card to my wife to collect 10k miles for me and the 50k SUB for her.
CLOSE my account when the AF hits.
DOWNGRADING doesn't makes sense because the account's 6-year age doesn't help my 12-year credit age average, and anyway I don't need another UA card (not even a no-AF one) because I don't care about earning miles on spend.
LOSE the CL when I close the account because I don't need it, and its absence makes room for CL when I reapply for the card down the road.
WAIT to reapply until I want to book UA flights. This may not be until 2024.
USE a referral from my wife to do so.

Am I missing anything?
