Thanks for the response by the way. Appreciate the insight. It's rather disappointing to hear it's just this arbitrary "you can SDFC if we decide you can" as opposed to "there's open economy seats on another flight, you can take it" which seems to be how Alaska works. I'd even settle for you could only SDFC into your fare class or lower if that were an option. Oh well, I'll be sure not to rely on this whatsoever in the future but it seems standing by might be a fine option. Thanks again!
