Anyone getting these errors try the "Switch Payment" trick (which you need to do for all MCs)? Before the cashier enters the amount (on a split payment), or selects "credit card" (or whatever the button says for the "full" payment), swipe the card and select "Switch Payment" then it will allow you to select debit.

Sometimes the cashier is insistent in entering things from their side first but you may try suggesting "Let me try and swipe it first".
