Globalprotect is working. As I understand it could be a problem if there is more than one connection to the same VPN, but even with three people in the same hotel, all of them can access it. Maybe chinese Gov isn't to strict with blocking VPN if you stay in a hotel next to a international exhibition or their hotel has any kind of special internet connection.
Btw. the
Three HK SIM card is working very well without blocking anything in Mainland. But to use this card in Hongkong a Real Name Registration is necessary. They refused her passport twice during application, but even without this Registration the card works in Mainland.
Could you give a little more detail on the process? I am also visiting China but will fly into HK and take a car over from the airport. Did you purchase the SIM card inside the airport or via the linked website? You mentioned that her passport was refused, was this trying to complete the application at the airport? Unfortunately I also need to work most of the trip and visiting smaller towns in my trip as well, so hoping cell service is still good. How is the speed?
