However, did not offer me my welcome benefit.
When I reminded her, she said she forgot and asked what I would like, and whether I wanted points.
I said there was a $100 cash compensation for not giving me a choice, and she said she wasn't aware of that, and I asked to speak to manager.
Manager said because I hadn't left the check-in desk, and actually entered the room (even though I had a key and the room number and the room number card for one of the rooms) she would not give me any compensation. She also claimed I had only pre-checked in (presumably because only one of the rooms was checked in and one wasn't ready).
She then later offered $30 US credit at the hotel, or 5000 Points, and not wanting to prolong the matter further, I accepted the points, but this really left a bad taste in my mouth on how this was handled at the hotel, and I told her it really felt like they were not honouring the welcome benefit guarantee on a made up technicality.
I can't count the number of times the desk has told me "and I've credited you the points for the welcome gift, instead of giving a choice.
You deserve points for the 2nd room not being available. When did the room open up?
