Just follow the signs for your departure gate (in E) at ZRH. You have to go through passport control when you go from the Schengen area inside the airport to dock E (non-Schengen).
Your bags can be checked through to EWR.
Please remember - flights to US depart from E
I note this since several times, the board incorrectly (I have no idea of why) listed US bound flights as leaving from D. I recall advising a couple as we left Passport Control, and who were heading to D, that their flight would leave from E. (My JFK flight was also listed as D - but I disregarded that.)
Sure enough, 25 minutes later I met them in the Senator lounge in E - after they had gone through additional controls to get to the right terminal E.
