Centro Historico all the way.

Either hotel is in a good location. The CH hotel is much better than the Maria Isabel. You can take a taxi to the other hotel's area if you want to sightsee there.

In my opinion, it is not worth the extra expense. Stay at the CH and you will have a very good memory of your Starwood experience in Mexico City. Stay at the MI and your experience will be average.
