So the OP would spend personal time plus the filing fee, fees to serve AA, etc. to get $35? Then he would still have to collect from AA.

AA might very well just send him $35 to settle, but the OP would still have lost as, unless there’s a contract or law that says otherwise, his court costs aren’t recoverable. I don’t see how spending more than $35 plus more personal time to get $35 makes any sense, unless I just wanted to fight this in principle to get AA.
