I'm sorry this happened to you, and obviously you are frustrated.

I too am a log time Hilton Honors guest, and I know it is up to me to keep credit cards up to date on existing reservations be it air, hotel or whatever.

Try corporate, all they can say is no, then you can decide how you want to handle the upcoming hotel stay.
