If you're on JFK-SIN direct, then switching to JFK-FRA-SIN is a whole different story. It'll almost be like booking a new award with a new routing, and you'd be paying F rates the entire way. That's also assuming you don't have issues with your SIN-DPS segment which may or may not be married to JFK-SIN.
