It's a faint whiff of that classic SQ arrogance, i.e., "our product is so good, we don't need to give you bonus miles."
Too bad the product doesn't hold up to their arrogance. I have flown SQ twice, all at once, my first time and my last time, 5 years ago. Terrible hard product, soft product was meh at best. I have had opportunity to include SQ in some of my multi-carrier itineraries but never have. First impressions!
SQ does earn bonus miles in J, just no Class of Service miles that are Elite Qualifying on those discount J fare classes.
