AC Hotel Santiago Costanera Center, Chile [Master Thread]

I must admit I was drawn to the property by the positioning of the hotel at the top of a building. What I found was exactly that - however, there were several surprising aspects of this select service property that made it stand out. But, unfortunately, the missing breakfast (and more expensive breakfast upsell offer than the Ritz - what???) make this a hard hotel to return to. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded around Noon on the day of arrival to a 1 Bedroom Suite
  • The suite here has a living room, and large corner combined bedroom and bathroom
  • Furniture was more comfortable than I thought it would be, but full leather is still a bit slippery (especially leather pillows)
  • Bed was good - mattress was firm but not bad, covers were decent, pillows were plush - I slept well
  • Really strong shower pressure from the rainfall head, and door somehow kept water from the floor
  • I enjoyed whatever flooring they used as it wasn't cold and stayed room temperature
  • TVs had Internet TV OS
  • Views are nice - rooms go from 18 to 26
  • Came back in the evening to 6 plums and 5 macarons - the macarons were so fresh and delicious (even had a passion fruit flavor)
  • Asked proactively about late checkout - no issue with 4 PM
  • They brought up a box of tissues very quickly
Cons:
  • Not a fan of the location - very busy, lots of sidewalk vendors taking up space, this is the only time I've found a part of Santiago I didn't like
  • Was offered a breakfast upsell for $17 (the Ritz offered the same for $15) - I just have higher expectations for a Ritz breakfast than an AC breakfast - I asked if the $10 welcome gift credit would cover it and was told it wouldn't unless I paid the full $21 price at the restaurant - I really hate going out in the morning and want to eat breakfast first thing, but I was stubborn and didn't take the offer
  • The soap bar smelled bad - not a fan
  • The property felt a little worn - leak in the hallway ceiling taken care of by trash can, at least one of the elevators always seemed down
I liked the property but probably wouldn't return due to the lack of breakfast.
