A map from the Great Circle Mapper - Great Circle Mapper
PER-LHR 9009 miles
MEL-IST 9093 miles
But airlines do not/cannot fly the shortest great circle route. For prevailing weather, air traffic routes and politics

Why not IST-PER-AKL?!

PER is secondary to MEL-SYD, AKL more so. EK & QR fly EU to AKL, and then the secondary- cheaper Chinese airlines to AKL. Not much left for others as IST is still some distance from UK, France etc.
Air NZ fly PER-AKL, mainly for kiwi FIFO workers. QF have tried nonstop flights NZ-PER for some summers, but never got it to work. A route not reinstated.
