SAS call centre agents would not have been authorised to rebook to other than SAS or "close" partners like LH, whereas if you had spoken to airport staff (SK has staff at HEL?) they could have rebooked you easily to a direct AY flight. In case of IRROPS when at the airport always talk to and let airport staff deal with rebooking.
Sadly no SK staff around. There was no one at the gate, no one at the transfer desks and when I went back to the check-in desks, the check-in agents shrugged their shoulders when I asked them if they could help me rebook...
