It's a bit comical, especially for a mobile device payments. This is why many places - Safeway comes to mind - won't allow a mobile device payment for purchases where they want to verify the cardholder name against ID, such as for gift cards. Contactless payments using the physical card are still fine.
So stupid, the ID has already been verified technically when the cardholder added the card to the device. Also, how would this work for Amex and Discover where you literally can put any name you want on your card?
