It's the AA App you will need, and if you need to check-in bags or talk to anyone it's AA since they are the operators. BA are present in JFK T8 however. AA will know the flight under a SABRE PNR, and you should find that in the BA MMB by looking at seat selection - the AA PNR should be there.
