It would cost tens of millions to reconfigure and prepare additional A380s for BA service. It will not happen. BA has a steady replacement programme for both long haul and short haul. Nothing wrong with operating a well maintained older fleet
that is fully depreciated. If you look closely at the ages of some of the aircraft operated by other major carriers in most cases you will see little difference in aircraft ages. Delta 767s for example average age 24 years. Some Lufthansa short haul airbus over 20 years. On it goes.
