Diamond breakfast has been reduced to only pastries and fruit (hot section of the buffet is now part of the 1200 XPF supplement -- which also includes an omelette, crepe or other menu item). For dinners, we tried room service, Upa Upa and the steakhouse. None were particularly good -- room service was definitely the worst of the three. We were chatting with another couple at the airport on our way out and they seemed to have the exact same sentiments and their own set of food-related issues. Apparently the resort got a new head chef at the beginning of the month which could be the reason for some of the changes / problems we encountered but it doesn't sound like food was ever great here based on prior reviews.
If you're paying for an upgrade, I'd recommend going for a room with a pool in the 100s if you want to be able to dive/jump off your balcony. Our overwater villa (300s) was nice but the water was pretty shallow so you had to step in.
Thank you for the review! How much was your upgrade? I'm interested in upgrading a points stay (diamond status). Thanks!
