Nobody is going to fly Europe --> Istanbul --> SE Asia ---> Australia when they can fly QR, EK or EY with just the one stop. (not to mention BA, CX, SQ etc.)
Even the other major European airlines - Lufthansa, etc. - can't make Australia work due to the required fuel stop / 5th freedom negotiations.
