I've done this a couple of times in recent years.
Always overnight before the QR flight in a hotel linked to AMS.
For the relatively small outlay it adds peace of mind and reduces stress levels, also it can be quite good fun having a night out on the Landside of AMS.
There's a viewing deck with a Fokker 100 on display and bars right next to meet & greet arrivals for people watching ops.
