Just finished my stay at the Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place. This was truly a phenomenal stay at an absolutely incredible hotel. It's basically a boutique operation and only has about 60 rooms. The rooms are huge and luxurious, with special mention to the fanciest Japanese toilet I have ever gotten the pleasure of experiencing. There are five meal servings a day for all guests regardless of status and they are filling and delicious. It's the staff though that really make this place. They display a near superhuman ability to be helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. You casually mention to one of them about something small and seemingly insignificant and then later another staff member will know about it and remember it in a later conversation, just to make your stay more satisfying. Everyone knows your name, from the pool guy to the kitchen staff. I'm just a Gold, asked and requested absolutely nothing upon check-in and received no fewer than three handwritten notes from the staff, a bunch of snacks and a text from the general manager wishing me a great stay. I just don't see how an American property could hope to compete with this level of service. I think the only reason why this property isn't better known is that it's in a city that is not particularly visited by foreigners for tourism, with many preferring to go straight to Bali.

Edit: I left behind a small can of shaving cream on purpose as I was heading home and they contacted me that I left it behind and offered to ship it to me! And received another followup email from their management making sure that my stay was exemplary.
