I haven't done it since COVID but luggage could also be very slow there. There is also quite a bit of distance to cover physically. + if anything goes wrong with the BA flight then you've got no hope of reaching AMS in time. There are some reports on here of what happens if you miss a QR flight and they're consistently bad - QR will apply the fare rules, so a no show fee and rebooking at the prices on the day which will be 1000s

Far better to go the evening before and have a pleasant morning in Amsterdam
