If you are planning to visit SA, get the e-visa in advance.
I had to get it at Riyadh airport last month, and it took about an hour (that Saudia terminal didn't have a dedicated visa-on-arrival desk, although Jeddah does).
Another thing: the cities are very spread out. They aren't pedestrian-friendly, but that's slowly changing. Public transit is sorely lacking (Riyadh is building a metro). Rideshares everywhere.
