Right, but in strictly relative terms, the aluminum Rimowas are much more roomy than Pelicans (which are more durable and protective, but at the expense of space), and I don't recall seeing any checked B&Rs that are waterproof.
I don't disagree that the vast majority of people get Rimowa for the name and the bling. Personally I like my carry-on luggage to be boutique and discreet.
