We have this as well, but the one time I tried it it created a rule violation that was forwarded to HR/Finance because I didn't do the booking through Concur.
The issue being that while Concur could see the booking and the company has visibility into it, there was not a fare compare done against other airlines to make sure we are not exceeding the $50 over the least-cost-logical fare that Concur finds doing a multi-airline search.
So Concur's solution to this is total BS unless they are somehow able to validate fares against the other airlines when booking direct with another through Triplink
Agreed. The flow back to Concur is really just for the traveler's visibility - policy enforcement is only one of the issues with the Triplink bookings. Since those bookings are direct with the airline, the company has zero ability to ensure Triplink booking cancelled/unused tickets are properly used (or moved) or any ability to assist their traveler. The TMC is also cut out and cannot assist if there is an issue, flight cancellation, apply a direct ticket credit automatically, report on that volume, etc.
