Every seat on every aircraft has a coat hook. That is where coats are meant to go.
I love the coat hooks for short coats, or for a jacket or blazer that I wear under my coat. But of course they are too low to the ground to use for a longer coat, as many people wear. I normally put longer coats in hold luggage, but if I am travelling for the day or without hold luggage, then the long coat will of course go in the overhead locker.
