This has been an option on the website for a while, and has been posted in Jetstream for close to a year at least. Very few reasons check in would need to be undone, mostly it is to facilitate reissuing a ticket, since you can't reissue against a checked in coupon. LHG carriers/AC also have the option on their websites if you go to "check in again" there is an option to "check out".
