If is was me I would have pushed for rebooking to a direct flight and if refused, asked for refund and booked myself with AY or SN unless prohibitively expensive.
I asked to be rebooked on one of the numerous direct AY flights from HEL to BRU but the SK call centre flat out refused. SN doesn't operate HEL. In terms of the refund, I think I paid around 170 EUR for a one-way Plus ticket, and AY easily charges at least 250 EUR for a one-way Y ticket. But in hindsight that is a good idea which I didn't consider at the time - I would rather have paid a bit of extra than go through the adventure that I did...
