I read all of this and wonder how BA (and their wonderful partners) get away with it. It is a shame that airlines (and supermarkets) do not have strong regulators like they do in Financial Services. There is a whole raft of regulation about treating customers fairly that ‘assists’ FS firms to focus on the customer.
If there was better/stronger regulation then Boards and Senior Management teams would be strongly incentivised not to let this sort of, frankly very poor, stuff happen to customers.
Not sure if or when that would ever happen, but this is just a small example of the many things that the travel industry seems to get away with that would not be acceptable elsewhere.
