Really an absolute circus by ANA.
Truly reflects the weak leadership they have right now. No wonder their products have been on the downhill in recent years.
It's fine to cancel the reservations. Its well within ANA's prerogative.
But do it firmly, decisively and maintain clear and transparent communications with people with affected reservations. It really pays off to have a decent PR team.
No one can fault you for not honouring the reservations but at least go about it in a fair and correct manner befitting a big corporation with the true Japan spirit.
The way they are handling this fiasco is no different from a LCC based in some third world country that gives off cryptic messages every few days for their snafu.
Come on ANA, show some pride in what you do.
and in before anyone goes, if you book an error fare you should be well prepared for this treatment...
the same applies even for any normal fares.
Don't complain about the service standards even when you paid normal fares. It simply means you did not pay enough. LOL
