It would depend if the case was waterproof or not and or how it got wet. If the case was not physically damaged and not waterproof then any airline can argue that the case wasn't fit for purpose in the regards to keeping the contents dry unless someone deliberately got it wet.. Airlines wont be responsible for rain damage.
