There is no cancel fee. There has never been a cancelation fee with airlines. They used to have a change fee. However those as explained haven't existed since CV19 hit. (Except for Basic FARES)

As long as you buy anything but a basic economy (you can book normal economy just not basic economy) fare, there is no cost to rebook. Simply cancel reservation on day 3 after booking. (DL allows till midnight day after booking to cancel and get refund, so must wait till day 3) When ready go online and book using funds from canceled fare to pay for new ticket. .
