Cathay reverted the next day saying they will honour. SQ reverted the next day saying they won't honour.

Seems like perhaps you're a rookie to the game.
It's not rare to have airlines come back weeks, months later and in between send conflicting information, void then reinstate tickets, downgrade pax, etc.
The next stage of the process is to prepare some popcorn and listen to people threaten to sue, complain about why this isn't an error, threaten to bring in the media and threaten to never fly NH again.
