Unfortunately I cannot add middle name for neither wife or mom, because they do not have one and it would match the passport. I called the BA and the agent told me, that ti should be fine and if I would split it on separate bookings/PNR there will be a risk of automatic cancellation which sounds absolutely ridiculous. What if there are two John Smiths who have never seen each other but are traveling on the same flight?
Well, my experience was 10 years ago, and things may have improved since then (one can hope!). And maybe it doesn't happen to every booking with two identical names, who knows. Most people here, including agents you've spoken with, seem to think it will be fine. Maybe my experience was an anomaly. But in my case, the agents definitely blamed it on the two names being identical. And in Heathrow, it was not a simple thing to separate/make a new PNR. I can still picture three very frustrated staff, including the manager on duty, trying in vain for hours to get our boarding cards printed. So maybe the agent on the phone was on to something with the automatic cancellation after splitting the reservation, I don't know. As to your question, yes, we all had our BA numbers in the system. Good luck, hopefully it will be fine!
