Hello all,
I have held an Amex Business Platinum for the last 8-9 years. Annual spend is approx $100k.
In the process of buying a new business (same corporation, just a new venture) and annual spend will increase exponentially.
Have been given a few offers from my bank (private banking, Visa Infinite, etc) but would really like to stay with Amex. Prefer to move to a Centurion if possible.
Is there any way to do this or request it? Preferably without having to increase spending for a year or more before they will approve (meaning I have to wait...). Rather than cancelling the Platinum, I'd like to make them aware that I want a Centurion (otherwise I'm leaving...)
I knew an Amex business rep a while ago (no longer have his contact info and he has moved on) who said he "put together a business case" for someone to get them a card. He got details of their new venture, existing spend, etc and got them approved for a Centurion
1)Does anyone know of a way to request Centurion with outright cancelling?
2)Does anyone know of a rep like this who can help?
3)Any thoughts on just spamming people on LinkedIn to ask? I'm sure there is a Canadian VP of card products or something who I can message...
As Mia suggested the Centurion card has become an avenue for Amex to drive even higher revenues from their top spenders. Once accepted you are accepted for life as long as you continue to pay the annual fee, so Amex want to a) extract as much spend as possible while dangling the Centurion carrot and b) ensure that you really do have a long term high spend profile so you aren't taking up space in the Centurion program.
I think $100k/year is too low for either personal or business Centurion but definitely too low for business. Any claims that Amex have offered invites based on future/promised spend seem highly suspect. I know many fellow cardholders including some with 100x my net worth and we all got our invites the same way - time and spend.
