I went to a another WM's MC to get a MO for $499. I confirmed the amount $499 + $1fee = $500, swiped and did not work. I think the code was either debit not authorized of debit not available that printed on the POS device. After the 2nd attempt the agent wanted to see my card so I showed my Bank ATM with the Chip, inserted and put in a wrong PIN because I certainly did not want this to be debited from my bank account. I told her that the PIN is correct and that I've been having issues with chip-reading on this card (which she believed and let me swipe again, so I swapped quickly to the VGC and re-attempted, still failed). Then I just walked away.
So did I just get a bad batch that is not capable of MSing ? I've never had issues liquidating Staples card using smaller swipes but this is not allowing a debit swipe at all. I have asked them to try smaller load (and debit not authorized failure). I thought these InComm VGCs were the "gold" standard, no???
