I have had to make a few changes to my original booking because of covid cancellations and so far they have been quite good about the whole process. My last trip (HND-DXB) for September this year had to be changed again as our cruise was cancelled and rescheduled for next September. The flight availability for Oct 2023 was not loaded in the system at that point so we just selected a random date in June to park the reservation until my actual date was available. I called this week to move it now that October is available and I cannot get the date I want (Oct 1 or 2). Even though the aircraft was changed to A380 from 777 (with newest F product), there are apparently NO First Flex fares available for 4 days in a row (only First Flex Plus). I assume that they are anticipating high demand around those first 4 days of October and have blocked it out for this reason.
I will continue to watch and see if the lower fare class becomes available, but may need to cancel for a refund, which would be very disappointing. I have booked a provisional replacement to AUH with Etihad in J using points incase I am forced to pull the plug.
