This represents a real cheapening of the product (one which is already badly let down on KLM by the woeful catering proposition), and I agree with Goldorak’s earlier comments that Business Class should come with lounge access - in fact, between the KLM catering and the lack of lounge access, it’s very difficult to justify calling “Business Light” a Business Class product at all - it’s heading in the direction of AirAsia’s “Premium Flatbed” (although in fairness to AirAsia, they won’t charge you a €300 change fee).
Status aside, there should be no distinction between Business Class passengers.
And of course we can expect the previous lowest fares to magically become “light” overnight, which would make this just another attempt to squeeze more money out of high-yield passengers for a product which often doesn’t pass muster as-is.
