Just returned from a short weekend getaway at the StR Langkawi. Overall, would rate it 6/10. Booked a King Suite Plunge pool and was allegedly "upgraded" to the beachfront pool suite (price-wise this was 10EUR more per night when I checked cash prices, so hardly an upgrade). Had booked STARS rate and Marriot platinum for what is worth. In any event, I wanted my own plunge pool (for my daughter), so I wanted at least this.

The suite we got (room 107) was fairly dark, especially in the morning until the sun came around noon-ish. The welcome gift we got in the room was also questionable (a tiny jar of homemade crackers and two small jars of a local jam).

The pros: good-sized plunge pool in our suite, good water temperature, breakfast choice.
The cons: the beach is a joke, as pointed out above. I did not even want to try it. The butler service was also a hit and miss. One of the times we used the daily coffee service, it took them almost an hour to deliver an americano and a capuccino. The other two times we ordered coffee was a tad faster, around 20mins or so from the time we called. Similarly, one of the days we ordered dine-in, I asked for a bottle opener (to be able to open a beer from the minibar as none found in the room...), and it took them 15mins.

Overall, would not repeat, especially at this price point.
