My husband and I were on BA202 from BOS connecting to BA760 to OSL. 202 was due in at 0920 today but actually it was 0934 owing to a delay in BOS (some emergency), winds, and holding.760 was dues to depart at 1045. I asked the cabin crew whether the connection was safe; they said yes - the MCT between T5 and T3 is now 45 minutes, apparently.
Anyway we were off the plane nearly first and thanks to a bus from Sat. B arriving more or less straightaway we were at the front of the T3 security line at about 1000 (well before the 35 minute conformance cut off anyway); our boarding passes scanned and a nice green light appeared. After security (what happened to fast track by the way??) we got to the lounge (one needs coffee after a short east coast overnight flight and it was about 35 minutes before the flight) and discovered that we had been offloaded. I am annoyed because we did everything right and we were scanned at security before the cutoff. The very helpful lady at the entrance to the lounge was unable to understand what happened but the gate staff when she called them refused to budge.
Can anyone offer any explanation? My hubby thinks they didn’t transfer our bags in time. But from the AirTags I don’t think that’s right. I can put up with the inconvenience (less sop the unpleasant coffee) but I am irritated that BA do I not follow their own rules. I would have accepted being offloaded if by the time I got to security check it been 10:10 and 1 second (1 second after the magic 35 minutes) but the converse should also be true.
With hindsight I wonder if it would have been better to hotfoot it to the gates (It was only showing “go to gate) and politely but firmly demanded to board the flight for which I was checked in.
Any thoughts? I will of course complain, something I very rarely do.
Mistake #1 - relying on anything cabin crew says about any connecting flight, MCT or otherwise.
Mistake #2 - going to the lounge on a tight time. Horrible idea.
Mistake #3 - booking a tight connection window like you did rather than book a later departing fight to Oslo (booked legally or not).
