all points vs points+cash: formula for best way per property?

upcoming US East Coast road trip ~24 nights;
mostly HIX...
have 424K IHG pts me --300K via 100% bonus buy offer;
15K IHG pts wifey;

439K / 24 = ~18.2K per night, so that evidences some
nights will be points+cash; is there formula for
easily determining whether any given night should be
all points or points+cash? Advice appreciated.
