Yea actually I heard that my uni is fairly conservative about approving this kind of travel, even when it's grant-funded rather than uni-funded, but I really don't understand why this is the case in a lot of academic institutions. It's literally called "business" travel ... just because we do academic work rather than for-profit work, we should be stuck in the back for long-haul flights? haha
