I am curious about both Fongo and VOIP.ms - is free really free for Fongo and the < $1.00 monthly charge really less than $1.00? In the case of Vonage, they are adding a lot of taxes and fees - even for a Virtual Number attached to a Canadian number.

Do they make money by hoping they can upsell?
