I had a weird thing happen regarding cancelling my fhr and the $200 credit only partially clawed back and I'm wondering if someone else experienced this also or figure out why this happened.
Timeline:
- Feb 6 2023, booked a one night $340 fhr stay
- Feb 9 2023, got $200 platinum credit
- Feb 10 2023, cancelled the stay (no cancel penalty)
- Feb 11 2023, got my $340 refund as expected, and amex clawback of $70 (instead of full $200 clawback which I was expecting).
So overall I gained $130 for simply booking and cancelling.
It's been over two months, the rest of the $130 credit hasn't been clawed back, and asking repeated times the agents say that I've already used up $130 of my hotel credit for this year and only have $70 left. When I ask which hotel did I use it in, they mention the cancelled one, and when I say I cancelled it can you reset the credit back to $200 they aren't able to/system doesn't let them.
I don't mind that basically got free $130 monies, but it also means I didn't maximize my $200 credit which I rather would have at some future booking this year (there's very little chance I'll book any fhr/thc if the 'discount' is only $70).
Anyone had this happen? Partial clawback?
