I’ve had similar issues with the W in Bogota and Westin in Santa Fe, Mexico City. I don’t know why the Marriott site lists the prices in USD for some countries and not others but I now call in confirm what the 1) charge will be in the local currency or 2) what’s the currency conversion that’s used.
What's odd - I'm at the W now - zero issues (hopefully) as the charge they gave me was right. I also didn't have issues at the Westin in CDMX. I had strong issues at the JW in Santa Fe and Marriott Reforma (same ownership group) and would not return to either of those properties.
