I believe that you can only 'see' the seatmap using the website (ie not on the App) once the flight goes under airport control and you can't change your seat online.
Definitely worth doing this rather than waiting till OLCI opens.
Hmm, interesting data points. I have a SIN - Europe Biz booking for 2 pax operated by A359 LH. I was checking from T-96hrs onwards via SQ website / app and verifying on Expertflyer as well. Before T-96hrs 11A, 11K and 19A, 19F and 19K looked taken in both SQ site & app, but showed blocked (for Q/T/LPP) in Expertflyer, so far as expected.
Now normally, IIRC, for Europe flights one can only change seats at OLCI opening starting T-48 and this held true in my case. Between T-96 and T-48 none of the seats in row 11 (not expected) or 19 showed as open via SQ app or via SQ website. They remained "Blocked" on Expertflyer as well meaning actually not selected yet, but not available for regular folks yet. I did not try the chatbot option.
Between T-72 and T-48 both 11A and 11K got snatched up, maybe some Q/T/LPP changing seat or hadn't assigned seat yet, no idea, fair enough. On T-48 19A, 19F and 19K were still available and I took 19F and 19K for us (moving from 12 D&F) so we are across the aisle from one another. 19A was still up for grabs last I checked. 19D has always been taken though an odd choice as a solo traveler (I assume), but each to their own. May try to offer 19K solo seat to the passenger as the space is equal (as I'm not trying to palm off an "inferior" seat) if they are traveling alone, but if he / she likes 19D for some reason no problem. We shall see, flight looks full.
On a side note, 17 F & K were also blocked, I assume for pilot (2nd flight crew maybe) rest or such. YMMV.
