I'd still call back and try again. Find the exact flight that you want to be rebooked on and explain to them that you want to be rebooked on this flight in business class because your original business last flight had a schedule change.
With AA, less info is better. As this was a schedule change, You do not need to look for upgrade space anymore. American can open up a seat for you and put you in that flight without any issues.
